Planning a Game-Day Visit to Franklin High School

Franklin High School sits in Southeast Portland, in a residential neighbourhood where game nights draw students, families, alumni and neighbours together. Because the campus is surrounded by homes and quiet streets, a little planning makes a visit smoother for everyone, whether you are coming to watch a Friday night football game, an indoor basketball matchup or a weekday track meet.

Getting there

Street parking near the school fills up quickly on busy evenings, so arriving early is the simplest way to find a spot without circling the block. Many local supporters walk or cycle, and Portland's public transit network serves Southeast Portland well; checking TriMet's trip planner before you leave can save time. If you do drive, please respect driveways and posted signs on neighbouring streets. That is part of being a good guest in the community that hosts our teams.

Before you arrive

  • Confirm the time and location. Games can move because of weather, scheduling changes or playoff seeding. Check the schedule on the day of the event.
  • Know which venue you need. Some contests are held on campus and others at shared district or off-site facilities. The facilities page gives an overview of where different sports usually compete.
  • Dress for Portland weather. Outdoor fall and spring events often mean rain and cool evenings, so layers and a waterproof jacket are worth bringing.
  • Check entry policies. Ticketing, bag rules and payment methods are set by the school and district and can change from season to season. Look at official school communications for current details.

Being part of the crowd

The spirit in the stands reflects the same values our athletes are asked to show on the field. Cheer loudly for the Quakers, applaud good play from both sides, and treat officials and visiting fans with respect. Younger students in particular look to older fans for how to behave, and a positive, welcoming atmosphere is one of the things that makes high school sport worth showing up for.

If you would like to support the programs beyond game day, the boosters page explains how parents and community members can get involved with volunteering and fundraising efforts.
