Visiting Eastmoreland: Practical Tips for Families and Fans

Eastmoreland is one of Portland's long-established public courses, set in the southeast part of the city near Reed College and the Crystal Springs area. Its mature trees, tree-lined fairways and gently rolling terrain give it a classic parkland character, which makes it a good teaching ground for young golfers learning to manage shot shape, uneven lies and approach play rather than simply hitting the ball as far as possible.

Watching a match

High school golf is a quiet spectator sport, and a little etiquette goes a long way. If you come out to support players, keep these points in mind:

  • Stay off the playing surfaces. Walk on cart paths or the edges of the rough, well away from greens and tee boxes.
  • Keep still and silent while any player is setting up or swinging, including athletes from other schools.
  • Do not offer advice. Under the rules used in school golf, coaching from spectators is generally not allowed and can lead to penalties for the player.
  • Silence your phone and avoid taking photos mid-swing.

Planning your trip

Because Eastmoreland is a busy public facility, parking and clubhouse areas can fill up, especially on weekends and during tournaments. Arrive early, dress for Oregon weather with layers and rain gear, and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on damp grass. Bring water, as a full round can take several hours to follow on foot.

Tee times, course conditions and any closures are set by the course itself, so check the course's own information before heading out, whether you plan to play a casual round or follow a team event. For match dates involving our golfers, see the schedule, and learn more about the squad on the teams page. You can also explore other places our athletes compete in the venues guide.
